KUMASI, Ghana (AP) - Joseph-Desire Job scored twice Saturday to lead Cameroon 5-1 over Zambia and stay in contention of advancing to the quarterfinals at the African Cup of Nations.

Duration: 3 minutes 51 seconds
File Size: 22.2 MB

Full description:
Geremi curled in a free-kick to give four-time champion Cameroon the lead in the 28th minute, before Job made it 2-0 four minutes later with a close-range finish after a Zambian defensive error.

Achille Emana scored the third from five meters (yards) out, and Samuel Eto'o scored a record 14th tournament goal from the penalty spot in the 64th. Job scored his second goal in the 81st.

Christopher Katongo scored a consolation goal for Zambia in the 89th.

Cameroon and Zambia each have three points in Group C.

Cameroon coach Otto Pfister made five changes from the team's opening 4-2 defeat to Egypt. Midfielders Modeste Mbami, Augustin Binya and Alexandre Song came in to replace Landry N'Guemo, Jean Makoun, Joel Apalle and Stephane Mbia, while Job took Mohammadou Idrissou's place in attack.

The Zambian defense's failure to clear the ball gifted Cameroon its second, third and fifth goals.

Job scored off Kennedy Nketani's missed header and Emana capitalized on Isaac Chansa's weak clearance, dribbling past goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene to score the third.

"We were under pressure," Job said. "We had to win and we did. Now, we have to make sure we will win the next game."

Eto'o was man-marked but managed to score his third goal of the tournament from the penalty spot after Billy Mwanza had handled in the area. The FC Barcelona forward reached the continental championship's goal-scoring record, which had been held by Ivory Coast's Laurent Pokou for 38 years.

Captain Cristopher Katongo returned from suspension to lead Zambia's attack, while Chansa took Adubelo Phiri's place.

Katongo's header hit the post in the 74th, and Cameroon goalkeeper Carlos Kameni denied Mulenga with a diving save in the 79th.

"I think Cameroon were lucky today because we gave them five goals without mistake," Zambia coach Patrick Phiri said. "I have worked with the team for 18 months and I have never seen them play like that. Maybe they were scared of the big names."

Zambia lost its entire 18-man team in a 1993 air crash. A year later, it reached the final in Tunisia.

Zambia plays Egypt in the last round, while Cameroon takes on Sudan.
