South Africa: Manto is dead
South Africa's Former Health Minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang, has died at the age of 69, in what reports have said was related to her first liver transplant.
She underwent also a controversial liver transplant about two years ago, coming under a lot of criticism for having not waited like other needy patients to get a liver donor.
Tshabalala-Msimang was South Africa’s controversial health minister for nine years, coming under a lot of fire for her stand-up policies against theories on HIV and AIDS as well as use of drugs for treatment.
She earned herself the name "Dr Beetroot" for her advocacy of healthy eating, which comprised vegetables such as beetroot, garlic and African potato, rather than drugs to fight HIV and AIDS.
